BIO:
Being a photographer rocks. Set your own schedule? Check. Work with chill people? Check. Follow and photograph those peeps from graduating HS, to college, to marriage and then add their babies to the mix? Check. Check. Check and Check.
I love the art of capturing moments for people to treasure. If you need someone who takes the time to bring photos to life with the essence of your family, call me. I have a diverse background and love taking beautiful portraits for anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Raised on my family’s ranch in West Texas, I grew up around cattle and horses. Without the obvious talent to make a living with horses as a trainer or exhibitor, I turned to another creative outlet – writing and photography. For two years, I traveled the country meeting renowned horse breeders, owners and trainers as a field editor for The American Quarter Horse Journal.
A new path in life allowed me to venture into the world of freelance journalism and photography. As a consistent contributor to the Journal¸ I stayed abreast of the latest in the Quarter Horse industry. In 2004, The Lyons Press contacted me and asked that I write Training and Showing the Versatility Ranch Horse, which explores AQHA’s Versatility Ranch Horse class. The Lyons Press publication was released in April of 2005. I finished 101 Reining Tips at the end of 2005 and it was published in 2006.
I have been the cover photographer for the Journal on several occasions, contributed photos to Western Horseman magazine and sell a select number of prints to galleries and individuals. I have experience in all venues of equine photography – showing, action shots (including but not limited to cutting, roping, working cow horse, reining, barrel racing, English and dressage), and personal portraits, engagements, school photos for educational establishments and senior portraits!
